10:58 pm - check it out

among the multitude of things that ben has put out in the last year, he has reworked "with my own two hands" with jack johnson, and the song can be found on the new curious george soundtrack. while it's billed as the movie soundtrack, it's really just jack's new cd with help from a few friends, including g love and matt costa.

i like it, i think you would too if you like jack. and ben's on it.

anyone care to discuss what they are listening to lately? and especially recommendations for "if you love ben, you'll like..."

citizen cope? marc broussard? james blunt? what is everyone listening to?

Yesterday I got to see Ben Harper, and it was beautiful.... He was at the 18th annual bridge school benefit in SF and was alongside Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Tony Bennet, Eddie Vedder, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Tegan and Sara and Los Lonely Boys.

He and the innocent criminals did an incredible set.

i managed to sneak in a camera and had good seats, so here are a few pics.

6:52 pm - Hola

Hi, everyone. I'm new here, so I thought I'd drop in and say hi.
A little about my love of these guys.
My favorite Innocent Criminal is Juan Nelson...I'm biased, as I am a bass player myself.
I really wanna get the Pleasure and Pain DVD, but have not had the good fortune to not be broke whenever I happen upon it.
The first disc of Live from Mars is my favorite.
And I love watching Blessed to be a Witness on the live DVD.
So, yeah. Hi.

4:36 pm - Ben is Awesome!

I'm so happy I found this Ben Harper community journal thing...it's so great. Anyway, I'm Elizabeth, 17 from California (actually I moved here a couple years ago from Connecticut..I miss New England!!) Yeah, so I'm very excited because Ben is playing as a "very special guest" with DMB!! (Black Eyed Peas will play too). It's on Aug. 28th at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California (near L.A.). I wish he was headlining, but hopefully that will come soon...does anyone know if a tour is in the future??

4:09 pm - with my own two hands

I feel like a bad mod. I don't use this community or promote it like I should. But I have noticed several (okay, dozens!) of new(er) members in here. So welcome. I hope you feel like this is somewhere you can connect to the other Ben Harper fans in the large community we call life. I expect traffic should pic up more in the community this spring and summer with concerts/tours of Ben. As of now, he is scheduled for appearance in Portugal (May 29), and Germany (June 5/6). For those of you in Cali, Ben will be playing two dates with DMB in Carson, on August 28/29.

With the release of "Diamonds on the Inside" last year, I was blown away. I bought it the day it came out, and it is still one of my favorite cds for traveling.

Check out the userpics of the community - I added two new ones, and changed the default userpic.

Thanks, and remember, you are "blessed to be a witness".

    1:02 am - True Talent!?!

Hey Guys, new to the community... However, I am a big fan of Ben Harper, as well as Jack Johnson. I personally believe that Ben Harper has the best musical talent in the world. He really knows how to truly excite a crowd. I love all of his music, however, "Mamma's got a girlfriend now," on his latest released cd rocks! I can't wait to see him again, hopefully soon.

    hej folks.

i am steve from switzerland. i saw ben last week live in concert in Zurich. it was amazing, although the concert wasnt sold out. but there was this incredible vibe going on in the stadium. ben was so great. he even said "i ve been touring since 10 years, but never had a better concert than this" (i am not sure, if he tells that in every concert... so don't blame me guys.) and it really was special. he came back to the stage 2 times and when he played "anoter lonely day", you should have seen the crowd with their lighters on. that was so so beautiful. man it just rocked. i really hope every ben harper fan gets to see him live in concert. cause its just amazing.

Hi guys! New to the community! Been a Ben fan for about two and half years now...started when my boyfriend got me hooked when we first started dating. I love the man's music! I've been lucky enough to catch him three times in concert. Once at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville (where I met him...we thanked him for putting out the great music that he does, and all he could say was "No, thank you" It was amazing...spent like an hour on my cell phone calling everyone I knew after that), then saw him at Bonnaroo, and then once at Deer Creek the day before the DMB concert up there. The man is amazing in concert! I can't wait until the chance comes up to see him again.

Anyways...My name is Shauna...I just wanted to introduce myself...SO hi guys! :-)

Hi, I just recently discovered Ben Harper and I did a little search to find Ben Harper communities and *bam* found this one.

I have kind of a silly question. I don't know how many of you watch Joan of Arcadia, but in tonight's episode, they played a song by Ben Harper toward the end of the episode.

Does anyone have any idea what the song was?

1:46 am - my ben story

Well, for starters, Love me some ben harper........saw him on sessions at west 54th in about 97-98 and have been hooked since....

I finally got to go see my musical hero back in the summer in cary nc. great show, but the crowd sucked ass....they were all talking on cell phones, not paying attention, or so drunk they couldn't stand.....jack played with him, and kid koloa opened for him....the show kicked ass but the crowd almost ruined it....

    check out xavier rudd (http://www.xavierrudd.com/)
he has a similar sound as ben at times....plays the wessinborn, guitar, and digeridoos......very good talent....you can get some mp3's at the discography...to let and timber and wood are good.......

that is all for now......glad to have found you all.
